How to Maintain a Facebook Business Page for Real Estate

By Rich Bowden

Now that you've created your Facebook Business Page for Real Estate and started promoting the page to increase the number of “Likes”, it's time to discuss how to maintain your page. Each of those “likes” are potential clients who will see many of your posts and pictures in their News Feed.

There are many different things you can post on your Facebook Business Page for Real Estate but we'll go through what we think are the top types of posts for real estate offices, teams and agents. Keep in mind the 80/20 rule: 80% of what you share should NOT be about you while 20% should be about you (or your business).

Listings
Perhaps the most popular type of posts for the real estate industry would be links to current or new listings. Always include a photo and link directly to the listing detail page on your website. The post itself can include some details of the listing but your goal here is to get your Facebook followers to click on the link and visit your website to find out more. Bonus tip: if the listing is owned by someone currently following you on Facebook, tag them in the post. This assures that every one of their Facebook friends will see your post which expands your reach!

Sold Listings
When you close a sale, share it with everyone! Share a photo and the details (location, etc.) on Facebook again with the link to the listing on your website. Consumers like to do business with successful people and sharing your successes shows them that you're having success!

Open Houses
What better way to promote and upcoming open house? Once again, use a photo and share some details on the listing but always include a link to the listing detail page on your website. Sharing these open houses on your Facebook Business Page for Real Estate is also a marketing advantage that you can offer your new listing clients.

Local Info
You can be a source of great information to your followers about the areas that you serve. Share neighborhood information, events, statistics. Let everyone know that you're an expert when it comes to the areas that you sell in!

Photos
Facebook is one of the best places to share photos. Photos can be of anything pertaining to the geographic area that you work and sell in. This is also a great way to let your followers get to know you better so you can always share photos of you and your family. Clients tend to do business with agents who they feel they know personally.

Helpful Tips
Home buyers and sellers are always looking for helpful information about the process of buying and selling their home. From home staging to home improvements, consumers seek out this information and your Facebook page can be a great resource for them.

Website Links
Don't be afraid to post links to various pages on your website including your bio page, mortgage calculators, neighborhood statistics, etc. The idea behind this is that you ultimately want to increase traffic to your website and Facebook is a great way for consumers to do just that.

This is just a short list of the types of posts you can share to maintain your Facebook Business Page for Real Estate on a regular basis. In Part 2, we'll cover how often to share posts and many other helpful tips on maintaining your page.
